Ground Breaking Ceremony Held for La Feria Indoor Recreation Center

The City of La Feria held a Ground Breaking Ceremony on August 30, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at the site of the new La Feria Indoor Recreation Center in conjunction with the La Feria Independent School District.  The center will be located at 901 Pancho Maples Drive across from the Veterans Memorial Park/Sports Complex.  The project is funded through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the La Feria Economic Development Corporation (LFEDC).  The contract was awarded to HighMark Construction, a contractor from McAllen, Texas.  Total project costs are estimated at $1,718,673.00.  State Representative J.M. Lozano was present and spoke to the children of the various La Feria schools that were present, with the majority of the children being sixth graders from Dominguez Elementary School.  See photos, courtesy of La Feria News.
