TxDot crews will start setting up the traffic control plan for phase 1 on Monday, 4 March 2024.  This will include the low-profile concrete barriers to separate the work zone from the side of the road still open to 2-way traffic, as well as temporary traffic signals at the FM 506 intersections with Business 83 and Oleander Ave.  During construction, only one cross-street intersection will be closed at a time, with traffic detoured as shown in the attached photos.

The project is broken into 4 phases:

              Phase I (urban area) – March-June 2024: Move 2-way traffic to west side, rebuild east side from Business 83 to just south of Cooper Lane

              Phase II (urban area) – June-September 2024: Move 2-way traffic to newly built east side, rebuild west side from Business 83 to just south of Cooper Lane. At the conclusion of Phase II, we will place the final lift of hot mix asphalt and final striping on both sides of the new road from Business 83 to Cooper Lane.

              Phase III (rural area) – October 2024 – January 2025: Rebuild east side from south of Cooper Lane to FM 3067 using flaggers, etc., to control traffic around work zone.

              Phase IV (rural area) – January-April 2025: Rebuild west side from south of Cooper Lane to FM 3067 using flaggers, etc., to control traffic around work zone. At the conclusion of Phase IV, we will place the final lift of hot mix asphalt and final striping on both sides of the new road from Cooper Lane to FM 3067 and conduct project cleanup.
